Community Health Research

Suparna Choudhry - Research Coordinator

Suparna Choudhury is a researcher and fiction writer based in Montreal. She has interdisciplinary training in cognitive neuroscience and transcultural psychiatry, and developed the field of Critical Neuroscience. Our mandate at Community Healing Days is to develop our services according to the needs of the communities we serve.

We conduct mixed methods research on the social demographics, unmet needs in the mainstream health sector and reflections on our clinics, of the folks we serve.

We advocate for an integrative, person-centred approach that strives to be socially and culturally appropriate.

Working with our networks of medical doctors, bodyworkers, researchers and activists, our goal is to contribute to a model that promotes multimodal interventions, coexists with conventional healthcare and foregrounds the social and political dimensions of health, illness and of healthcare practices.

We are currently building a new program of research and practice drawing from theory and methods of narrative medicine.
